Maalula is a place where they still speak Aramaic

Maalula holds a special place in the Middle East. Maalula means “the entrance” in Aramaic, referring to its dramatic location at the entrance to a rocky gorge. Most locals here are Christians who still speak Aramaic. The place is notable for its ancient architecture and the most important shrines of the Christian world.
