ULAANBAATAR, 3 June (BelTA)
- Ulaanbaatar is the capital of Mongolia, located in the northern part of the
country on the Tuul River. The city is a major political, economic and cultural
center of Mongolia. It is the coldest capital city on the planet, as the
temperature can drop to -40°C in winter. The city is known for its Buddhist
monasteries including the Gandan Monastery, historical museums such as the
Mongolian National History Museum, and picturesque parks and gardens.
Ulaanbaatar is also a starting point for tourists wishing to visit famous
Mongolian sites such as the Gobi Desert and Khuvsgul Lake.
