OLOTSK, 25 September (BelTA) - Polotsk was first mentioned in The Tale of Bygone Years in 862. It is one of the oldest cities not only in Belarus but also in the entire East Slavic region, which makes it attractive for tourists. The city is located in Vitebsk Oblast about 250km north of Minsk. Thanks to its rich historical and cultural heritage, Polotsk was the first city in the country to be awarded the title of Belarus' Capital of Culture in 2010.
