Zayats: Belarus is food self-sufficient thanks to balanced government policy

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarus is a food self-sufficient country thanks to the balanced government policy, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats said at a ceremony to launch the international exhibition Belagro 2022, BelTA has learned.

"Thanks to the balanced government policy to develop agricultural engineering, support science, thanks to the diligence of Belarusians, our country has ensured its food prosperity. We have become a self-sufficient export-oriented country," Leonid Zayats said.

Today Belarus and Russia have to respond to the tough sanctions from the West "We must cooperate more actively to make our countries even stronger and our peoples richer," the deputy prime minister said.

Speaking about Belagro, he stressed that the exhibition has truly become the country's trademark bringing together many enterprises and organizations. "Today, more than 400 domestic and foreign companies will demonstrate their innovations. We are happy to welcome a large delegation of the Russian Federation. It's nice to note that distance is not a hindrance as we have delegations from Vladivostok, Sakhalin and Murmansk. I sincerely welcome delegations from Mongolia, Venezuela, Tajikistan, Iraq, Iran and other countries," Leonid Zayats added.

The international exhibition Belagro 2022 is running in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone from 7 to 11 June. The agricultural forum traditionally brings together not only Belarusian farmers and workers of the food and processing industry but also their foreign counterparts and partners. This year more than 400 companies from different countries, including Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and others are taking part in the exhibition. The expo will feature a large number of participants from Russia - more than 30 regions and 16 individual stands.

Collective expositions will be offered by the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Industry Ministry, National Academy of Sciences, Belgospishcheprom and Belcoopsoyuz. The exposition will be supplemented by the exhibitions Belfarm (the latest achievements in cattle breeding) and Belproduct (food products).

Belagro will become a platform for business negotiations. The exhibition program will include B2B meetings, debates, conferences, demonstrations and contests.
