YELIZOVO, 4 March (BelTA) – Grodno Glassworks' branch, which is based in Yelizovo, Osipovichi District, Mogilev Oblast, has started a major modernization project. The efforts will focus on glass container shop No.4, the enterprise's Director Oleg Gerbach told BelTA.
According to the source, the enterprise has been successfully modernizing its manufacturing facilities for the last few years and has ambitious plans for 2021 as well. “We've already started implementing a project to modernize glass container shop No.4. The glass-making furnace will be completely redesigned to improve fuel economy. Respectively we expect it will reduce the prime cost of glass melt, which in turn is supposed to improve financial indicators. The equipment of the packaging section will be changed in order to improve performance. Proprietary funds and borrowed resources will be used to upgrade the glass container shop. The project's approximate cost is close to Br26 million. We intend to commission the upgraded shop in early 2022,” the director said.
The modernization project will help accomplish several important tasks such as the reduction of the prime cost of glass products, increase in the output and the quality of final products. “The work of our enterprise is geared towards making competitive products, ensuring steady and stable operation and preserving existing jobs,” the director said.
The enterprise now makes over 100 kinds of various products, including containers for food liquids and foods. Every year the enterprise starts making 10 to 20 new kinds of merchandise. The glass containers are sold domestically and exported. In 2020 the exports went to Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The enterprise employs about 570 people.
