MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – The World Bank is considering the allocation of finance to Belarus for the sake of fighting the COVID-19 coronavirus, representatives of the World Bank office in Belarus told BelTA.
According to the source, the World Bank will do its best to help Belarus respond to medical, social, and economic problems relating to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At present the government, the United Nations Organization, and the World Bank are working together on planning, financing, and buying medical goods.
Possible volumes and the timing of finance are still being discussed.
BelTA reported earlier that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide aid to clients in Belarus due to the spread of the new coronavirus. “Taking into account the volume of projects in the public sector, we will also consider proposals relating to them,” the bank said.
