Winter rapeseed sowing complete in Belarus

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Winter rapeseed sowing has been completed in Belarus,  BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 26 August, 7.78 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 6.691 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops (97.8% of the area under these crops, with yields at 32.4 centners per hectare) and 1.089 million tonnes of rapeseed (94.9% of the area under these crops, with yields at 28.7 centners per hectare).

The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 2,115,300 tonnes of grain (including rapeseed), Grodno Oblast – 1,755,100 tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1,563,400 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 917,600 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 734,500 tonnes and Vitebsk Oblast – 694,600 tonnes.

Belarus started harvesting corn for silage and green fodder (5.6%).

The total amount of potatoes harvested is 15,200 tonnes (3.2%), vegetables – 15,100 tonnes (26.3%).

A total of 4.185 million tonnes of grass fodder have been harvested (42.6% of the plan).
