MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko talked to reporters after meeting with Governor of Russia's Astrakhan Oblast Igor Babushkin in Astrakhan, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “We've discussed the matters that need a little nudge. For instance, things are totally fine in trade in agricultural machines. Tomorrow we are going to open a facility [a trade and aftersales service center of the Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ]. But it turns out there is some potential for cooperation in municipal vehicles. We are going to take a closer look at the options.”
Apart from that, the idea to build a Belarusian quarter, the likes of which we build in Russian regions, was born today. But we have to more thoroughly discuss it to find out the terms, whether it will be commercially attractive for us. Thank you very much for the offer. We are very interested in it,” the prime minister noted.
“In conclusion of the meeting I instructed members of the delegation to resolve all the issues in principle before leaving Astrakhan,” the Belarusian head of government concluded.
First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Oleg Shvets revealed more details about the plan to build the Belarusian city block. “The residential block will include 32 residential buildings, two kindergartens, a school, and the entire utility infrastructure. It is just a roadmap for now. We are going to discuss the terms in detail. The realization of such a large project from zero – starting with urban planning documents and ending with actual construction – is a major breakthrough in our relations,” he stressed.
In his words, plans have been made to discuss the details very soon. “We intend to develop urban planning documents by the end of the year and begin the development of the construction project next year. We would like to use our projects, our efforts, and our materials as much as possible,” the official pointed out.
Oleg Shvets also remarked that Belarus had increased shipments of construction materials to the region by 2.5 times since the beginning of the year.
