Vice premier: Innovation in the transport sector aims to expand Belarus’ economic capacity

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) - The events held as part of the international forum Belarusian Transport Week make a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Belarus and other countries, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said at the opening of the forum on 10 September, BelTA has learned.

“The Government of the Republic of Belarus pays close attention to the issues of improving the legal framework of transport and logistics activities. The country develops its transport and logistics industry, builds roads, and renews rolling stock. The use of electric vehicles in passenger and cargo transportation is expanding, with logistics centers being built,” Anatoly Sivak said.

The deputy prime minister emphasized the importance of interaction with partners on the Eurasian continent. “With Belarus joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, this interaction has gained more significant momentum,” Anatoly Sivak said, adding that the ongoing work is aimed at increasing the economic potential of the country and developing relations between foreign and Belarusian companies-carriers, logistics operators.

According to Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich, the international forum has resumed its work after a four-year break. “Logistics has changed in recent years. Thanks to our friends, partner countries, we managed to quickly reverse the situation and build new logistics to the east and south. We will do our best to showcase our achievements in transportation services and machine building,” Aleksei Lyakhnovich said.

The Belarusian Transport Week 2024 international forum is taking place in Minsk on 10-12 September. It includes the international exhibition Transport and Logistics and a thematic business program. The forum is attended by heads of transport departments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, representatives of the parliament and governments of Russian regions, as well as leading transport universities of Belarus, Russia and China, domestic and international experts.

The Belarusian Transport Week has been held since 2007. The aim of the events is to promote the development of transport and logistics potential of Belarus and other countries, introduce innovations, attract investment into the transport sector, and increase international passenger and cargo transportation.  


The event is organized by the Transport and Communications Ministry and Technics and Communications Company.
