Venezuela seeks closer ties with Belarusian agricultural producers

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - Venezuela is interested in expanding ties with Belarusian agricultural producers, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Belarus Franklin Ramirez Araque said during a working meeting with Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov. The meeting discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

During the meeting, the parties noted that the main imports from Venezuela to Belarus currently include rum and cocoa beans. Previously reached agreements have enabled the creation of a Belarusian working group focused on food supply cooperation with Venezuela. This group was formed with the participation of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Belgospischeprom concern, and regional meat and dairy industry associations.

Ambassador Franklin Ramirez Araque stressed Venezuela’s interest in expanding contacts with Belarusian producers. "Economic cooperation is important to us. Our agricultural cooperation with Belarus is long-standing. Some projects are currently in the pipeline, while others need to be revitalized. We see Belarus as a reliable and important partner," the ambassador stated.

Yuri Gorlov thanked the diplomat for his praise of their joint work and contribution to preserving historical memory and respect for Belarusian national symbols and sacred sites. He expressed readiness to develop relations between the two countries. "We build constructive dialogues with all countries, literally opening our Slavic soul to cooperation and comprehensive interaction," the minister added.

He also invited the Venezuelan delegation to visit the international specialized exhibition Belagro 2025, which will take place in June in Minsk.
