Uzbekistan seeks wider industrial cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) - Uzbekistan is interested in developing industrial cooperation with Belarus, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov said at a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan on 18 June, BelTA has learned.

“We attach particular importance to expanding cooperation, primarily through the development of export-oriented joint facilities to make products with high added value,” Achilbay Ramatov said.

According to the deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan, the work of the business council will contribute to the development of business contacts. It serves as a platform for promoting private sector initiatives. “We fully support the activities of the council and call on the business community of both countries to make maximum use of its capabilities to implement mutually beneficial investment projects in the chemical industry, production of construction materials and others,” the deputy prime minister of Uzbekistan added.

Achilbay Ramatov placed special emphasis on increasing trade between the two countries. “We pay close attention to the development of multilateral cooperation with Belarus and are trying to take our relations to a new level. Today, we are all witnessing how rapidly the world is changing, with new challenges and trials regularly arising. In such conditions, we need to direct all efforts to the development of bilateral partnership and the potential available to both parties.
