MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Belarus’ Deputy Energy Minister Konstantin Anoshenko and the leadership of Uzbekistan’s National Association of Power Engineers (NAPE) discussed promising areas of cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.
The deputy minister outlined the key priorities for the development of Belarus’ energy sector, including the construction of a nuclear power plant and its role in strengthening energy security and driving innovative growth. It was noted that the Belarusian NPP meets high international safety standards, as repeatedly confirmed by IAEA expert missions. Today, the Belarusian project serves as an example for other newcomer states in the industry, and Belarus is ready to share its experience in nuclear energy with its partners, including Uzbekistan.
In August, a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Uzatom Agency visited the Belarusian Energy Ministry. Joint areas of cooperation were identified, and a corresponding roadmap is being prepared. “We welcome Uzbekistan’s decision to join the group of states using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and to implement a national nuclear energy program,” Konstantin Anoshenko stressed.
In turn, NAPE Chairman Bahtiyor Ergashbaev noted that Uzbek companies are also interested in studying Belarus’ experience in developing and modernizing power grid infrastructure and in training personnel for the power engineering sector.
Attending the meeting was also Director General of Belarus’ State Production Association of the Electric Power Industry Belenergo Andrei Panchenko.
