MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) - The Energy Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia held a meeting in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia on 6 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Union State PA.
“The participants of the meeting discussed the implementation of Union State Supreme State Council’s Decree No.2 of 29 January 2024 «On the Main Directions of Implementation of the Provisions of the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026” in terms of the formation of united markets of oil and oil products of the Union State. The MPs heard out information on the activities to regulate trade and economic cooperation in oil and oil products exports and on the formation of united markets of oil and oil products of the Union State,” the press service said.
The MPs also discussed key aspects of import substitution in the oil and gas industry. “The main focus was on the need to develop our own oil and gas industry in the context of restrictions on equipment imports. The participants stressed that the implementation of import substitution projects requires significant efforts and investments, especially in high-tech areas such as hydraulic fracturing, drilling and liquefied natural gas production technologies. It was noted that today Russian leading research and design institutes with the participation of oil and gas companies perform dozens of R&D projects to develop samples of all necessary types of equipment. The participation of Gazprom Neft and Belorusneft in standardization and conformity assessment of equipment, as well as their joint efforts to improve hydrocarbon processing technologies were praised. The MPs suggested working out the issue of establishing joint ventures and research centers to stimulate innovative development and inter-corporate ties,” the PA said.
Apart from the Union State MPs, taking part in the event were representatives of the Energy Ministries of Belarus and Russia, and Gazprom Neft.
