MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – Ukraine has scrapped a 35% import duty on buses, trucks, and utility vehicles from Belarus, BelTA learned from the government newspaper Uryadovy Kuryer.
On 16 April the Interagency Commission for International Trade of Ukraine decided to slap a 35% duty on the import of wheeled motor vehicles from Belarus.
According to the Ukrainian online newspaper Korrespondent.net, in response the Belarusian government introduced licensing for certain Ukrainian goods, including traditional import groups: ceramic tiles, wallpaper, radiators, refrigerators, paper, particleboards, confectionery, juices, and beer.
Licensing requirements pushed these Ukrainian goods out of the Belarusian market. According to the newspaper, Minsk guarantees that the restrictions will be lifted within one week after the protective import duty on Belarusian vehicles is scrapped.
