KIEV, 5 January (BelTA-Ukrinform) – As of January 2021 Ukraine resumed electricity import into the trade zone of the country's integrated energy system, BelTA has learned.
In particular, electricity import from Belarus' direction began at 01:00 on 3 January. It lasted for 24 hours and amounted to 3,450Mwh. Import from Belarus' direction on 4 January lasted for 24 hours and amounted to 3,960Mwh. No electricity was imported from Russia's direction.
Ukrenergo Company noted that in accordance with the final provisions and transitional provisions of the electricity market law the energy regulatory agency's authority to cancel results of auctions for access to interstate power links with countries, which are not members of the Energy Commonwealth, were limited to 2020 only.
The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine had previously canceled results of auctions for access to interstate power links with Russia and Belarus in 2020. The relevant resolution of the commission lapsed on 1 January 2021.
