MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – There will be no significant overhaul of the economic policy in Belarus, newly appointed Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin told journalists on 10 March, BelTA has learned.
When asked whether approaches to promoting the country's economic growth need to be changed, Aleksandr Turchin said: “My favorite expression is 'evolution without revolution'. Of course, it is necessary to evolve in any role, be it head of government, Minsk Oblast governor... Each leader brings something new to the table, a new perspective on certain problems.”
“Of course, there will be no significant overhaul of the economic policy. The most important thing is to maintain sustainable and balanced development in our country. Naturally, people will remain in the focus, we will prioritize efforts to improve living standards and the quality of life. These will be the main areas of our work,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
He remarked that the people who now hold key positions in the government, the Belarus President Administration, and heads of regional governments have worked together for some time, know each other well, and will primarily deal with economic issues. “Are there problems? Of course, there are. We will address them. I think that we will succeed and everything will be fine,” said Aleksandr Turchin.
