MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – In order to expand mutual trade in the EAEU, it is necessary to eliminate legal gaps within two years, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk on 30 September, BelTA has learned.
“The problem of trade barriers is a constant refrain in our Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meetings. Colleagues, we can no longer avoid the persistent issues plaguing our mutual trade. Now we need concrete action to build a more dynamic and competitive economic space in the EAEU. Therefore, I propose we set a clear goal: to eliminate as many legal gaps as possible in this important area within the next two years,” said Aleksandr Turchin.

The prime minister also urged to fast-track the work on establishing uniform product safety requirements within the EAEU. “Over the past five years, we have only been able to adopt four technical regulations, and we are still struggling to develop the remaining ten. When developing the EAEU’s digital technical regulation system, special attention should be paid to the transition to electronic forms of permitting documents in the area of conformity assessment, improving the reliability of product safety information, and resolving all issues with electronic vehicle passports,” he noted.
