Transit of Belarusian goods via Estonia hit record high in 2021

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarus has been actively exporting oil products and other goods through Estonian ports. The volume of transit has become a record high this year, the Estonian Broadcasting Company ERR informs.

According to Statistics Estonia, the volume of Belarusian goods, which mainly go through Estonia in transit, has reached a record high this year. Belarusian goods worth €500 million were imported to Estonia in January-October 2021. These are mostly heavy oil products, such as fuel oil.

Estonia has become Belarus' 10th largest import partner due to the increase in the oil price.

Oil products are mainly transported through Estonia by rail, and most of these cargo flows are serviced by state-owned company Operail. According to Operail Raul Toomsalu, customers are local companies, not Belarusian shippers.
