Trade in food, agricultural products between Belarus, Russia's Primorye Territory 2.5 times up

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – In January-September 2020 the volume of trade in agricultural products and food between Belarus and Russia's Primorye Territory increased by 2.5 times in comparison with January-September 2019 to $2.2 million, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA. Negotiations with a Primorye Territory delegation took place at the ministry in anticipation of the Belarusian delegation's visit to the Russian region.

The sides discussed further advancement of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Primorye Territory. In particular, the sides talked over ways to increase mutual trade, cooperation in variety testing and supplies of Belarusian seeds, saplings of fruit crops and berries, pedigree cattle, the designing of animal farms in Primorye Territory, shipments of agricultural machines and equipment.

The internship and career enhancement opportunities Belarusian agricultural universities and academies can offer to Primorye Territory specialists were also mentioned.

Belarus' export amounted to $1.7 million (2.2 times up), with import at $449,600. The main exports include dairy products (quark cheese, butter, skimmed milk powder), meat products (sausages, poultry meat and by-products), fruits, gelatin, and confectionary products. The main exporters were Lida Milk Plant, Vitebsk Meat Plant, Babushkina Krynka, Kalinkovichi Milk Plant, and OAO Mozhelit. Imports from Primorye Territory included fish and fish products, chocolate, and grain processing products.
