To Lam names priority areas of Belarus-Vietnam cooperation 

 MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - Following the talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam named the areas that the two countries will focus on in the near future, BelTA learned. 

He emphasized that he seeks to take the relations between the two countries to new heights through joint efforts. "In this spirit, the Belarusian president and I held very successful talks, reviewed the current relations, agreed on measures to expand and deepen the traditional areas of cooperation, and identified new areas of interaction. We talked about regional and international issues of mutual interest," To Lam said.

The statement signed by the leaders of the two countries on strategic partnership provides a solid basis for further interaction, he pointed out. "While the world is undergoing a turbulent time, you and I have good opportunities. The Belarusian president and I have agreed to focus on the following areas," To Lam noted and listed some of the areas of mutual interest. 

These include expanding political and diplomatic contacts, exchanging delegations at all levels, creating conditions for people-to-people communication, improving the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, and creating new ones. 
The parties also agreed to intensify ties in defense and security. In particular, the matter is about defense industry, military medicine, personnel training, information security and cyber security.

An agreement was reached to strengthen the role and efficiency of the inter-governmental commission on cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology, to more fully harness the potential and advantages of the free trade zone agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU to create favorable conditions for investors in each other's territories. "We will create conditions for businessmen to explore the market, participate in production and business cooperation," To Lam said.

The parties are interested in cooperation in digital economy and digital transformation, agriculture, manufacturing sector, energy, science and technology, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, transportation and logistics, banking, and education. In addition, To Lam said Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for the development of cooperation between ASEAN and Belarus.
