Three Belarusian meat plants cleared by Russia's food quality watchdog

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) Sergey Dankvert is lifting restrictions on the supplies of products of three Belarusian meat processing plants to Russia. The decision way taken following the meeting between Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergey Dankvert and Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Subbotin, BelTA learned from the website of Rosselkhoznadzor.

“The parties discussed the current agenda of cooperation, including supplies of Belarusian products to the Russian market. In view of the guarantees issued by the Veterinary and Food Oversight Department of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the parties agreed to remove the temporary restrictions on export of all types of meat products of three Belarusian enterprises to Russia as from 11 December 2020,” the message reads.

Glubokoye Meat Processing Plant and Zhlobin Meat Processing Plant got green light to ship its goods to Russia, with exception of bone-in beef and other products that pose the risk of the African swine fever (ASF) spread. The Mogilev Meat Processing Plant is now allowed to export heat-treated finished pork products (apart from those that pose the risk of the ASF spread).
