Terms of pricing Russian natural gas deliveries to Belarus till year end defined

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Intergovernmental agreements have been signed to determine terms of pricing Russian natural gas deliveries to Belarus till the end of the year and OAO Beltransgaz's markup in relation to the Russian ruble, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich and Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov met in Moscow on 11 May to discuss cooperation in gas industry. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko took part in the talks.

The sides discussed prospects of Belarus-Russia interaction in gas industry, progress in organizing events and taking measures within the framework of the Union State program on forming the joint market of natural gas.

As a result of the meeting Viktor Karankevich and Nikolai Shulginov signed a protocol on amending the intergovernmental agreement on prices (tariffs) for natural gas deliveries to Belarus and natural gas transportation via the gas pipelines located in Belarus of 25 November 2011. They also signed a protocol on amending the intergovernmental agreement on terms of selling shares and consequent operation of OAO Beltransgaz of 25 November 2011.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decrees No.166 and No.167 on 6 May 2022 to approve drafts of these protocols as the basis for negotiations.
