MOSCOW, 30 January (BelTA) – Aleksandr Subbotin, who previously served as Vitebsk Oblast Governor, is planned to be approved for the position of Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich told the media following the EEC Council meeting in Moscow on 30 January, BelTA has learned.
“Discussing today’s meeting, I would like to reveal a secret and say that we have initiated the procedure for appointing a new minister from Belarus, Aleksandr Subbotin, to the position of EEC Minister for Technical Regulation. We have a quota of two ministers [within the EEC Board],” Natalya Petkevich said.
She emphasized that the procedure for appointing EEC ministers is multi-stage. “Today we adopted the decision of the EEC Council, and our colleagues supported Belarus’ proposal on appointing a new minister from the Republic of Belarus,” the deputy prime minister said.
Aleksandr Subbotin has previously held the position of Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and the Agro-Industrial Complex from September 2018 to January 2020.
