DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 3 March (BelTA) – ZAO Stadler Minsk plans to set up a converter plant in Fanipol in April, Stadler Minsk CEO Philipp Brunner said during a press tour to Dzerzhinsk District on 3 March, BelTA has learned.
“We will launch a new converter plant soon. The enterprise will go online in a month. We already have many orders from Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic,” Philipp Brunner said.
Stadler Minsk intends to expand production areas by another 25% this year. Due to this the enterprise will be able to produce 500 rail cars per annum in 2021 (the company used to produce 300 rail cars a year; 400 rail cars are expected to be manufactured in 2020). “In this case we will become the most powerful plant in the Stadler Rail Group in 2022. Now we are second,” Philipp Brunner added.
A total of 1,400 people work here now. Almost all of them are local residents. The number of workers is expected to increase to 1,650 as the company will grow further.
There are plans to deliver the second batch of trains for the Minsk metro. “We have arranged to deliver ten metro trains for Minsk: six four-car and four five-car trains. We have already delivered the first two batches. And we will deliver the rest of trains in the second quarter of this year,” Philipp Brunner added.
Belarusian Railways has placed an order for ten five-car trains. The order is at the design stage now, the production will start soon. Stadler Minsk and Belarusian Railways have already collaborated and Stadler Minsk produced two sever-car trains for Belarusian Railways earlier.
The factory manufactures products for other countries too. Azerbaijan ordered ten single-deck trains, Hungary ordered 21 six-car double-deck electric trains, Slovenia needs double and single-deck trains. There are also a lot of orders for component parts from other factories. For example, aluminum car bodies are produced here for Germany, Spain and Poland.
ZAO Stadler Minsk was officially inaugurated on 20 November 2014. The enterprise is part of the Swiss company Stadler Rail Group, which has been one of the leading European producers of railway rolling stock for over 75 years. Stadler Rail Group also operates in Austria, Australia, Algeria, the UK, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Czechia, Italy, and the USA.
