Spring sowing in Belarus over 70% complete

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Spring crops in Belarus have been sown on 1.849 million hectares, which is 74.4% of the target area, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 11 May, spring cereals and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, and millet) were planted on the area of 1 million hectares (96.3%). Spring colza sowing reached 92.6% of the target, corn sowing – 56.1%.

Flax was sown on the area of 39,600ha or 93.4% of the plan. Sugar beet was planted on the area of 84,800ha or 100.2% of the plan, potatoes were sown on the area of 18,200ha (81.2%).

The total area of spring crops for harvest 2021 in Belarus is estimated at almost 2.5 million hectares.
