Spring planting in Belarus 90% complete

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Early spring crops have been planted on 90% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,058,100 hectares, which is 44.7% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 554,400 hectares, which is 90% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 18,100 hectares, which is 29.5% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 90,800 hectares (88%), maize on 224,600 hectares (18.3%), including grain maize (45.2%), potatoes on 2,420 hectares (14.5%), vegetables on 1,650 hectares (32.8%).

Annual grasses were planted on 117,300 hectares, which is 53.4% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 33,500 hectares, which is 67.6% of the plan.
