MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - Soligorsk Poultry Factory wants to produce blue eggs, the head of the enterprise Inna Tolkacheva, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said on the air of the RTR-Belarus TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We had an interesting breed of birds that laid blue eggs,” Inna Tolkacheva said. “We sourced the breeding stock from the Czech Republic, but due to bird flu outbreaks there and other reasons, we couldn't import them any longer. Now we want to buy eggs from a farmer who specializes in this. We have our own incubator left over from quail farming, and we’ll try to hatch them ourselves.”
The factory also plans to set up spacious cages for laying hens in the former poultry house. "It has four halls. Hotels have VIP suites. Similarly, we have this type of cage for a hen called a European cage. It's where she lives in comfortable conditions. She has a separate sleeping area, a separate nest where she lays eggs, and a scratching post where she can sharpen her claws. It's VIP living,” Inna Tolkacheva said.
