Social focus of Belarus’ state investment program underlined

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) - The state investment program for 2025 includes mostly social projects to improve people’s living standards, Belarus’ First Deputy Economy Minister Andrei Kartun told the media, BelTA learned.

"The state investment program is adopted annually. There are no investment projects in the classical sense, i.e. commercial projects. These are state social and infrastructure projects. The essence of the state investment program is to fulfill social obligations, improve infrastructure to provide more comfortable living conditions for people. If we talk about the amount, Br2.2 billion is envisaged to finance the facilities," Andrei Kartun said.

In total, the state investment program includes 82 objects. "We can say that about 70% of them have a social focus, having a direct impact on people’s lives. For example, we plan to continue building deferrization stations. Construction of rental housing for people in need of housing will be financed from the program in 2025. I would like to remind you of the decree that was adopted that authorizes local administrations to determine people of which professions are in the greatest demand in a district and to give them the priority right to rental housing. The program also envisages reconstructing district hospitals, bridges and also roads, mostly local roads. About half of the objects included in the state investment program will be commission this year. The remaining will go on stream in 2026,” Andrei Kartun noted.

He stressed that thanks to this document, domestic infrastructure investments work for the economy. "We have collected all the proposals of local authorities and grouped the objects in such a way as to complete the projects already underway. We practically did not add new ones," Andrei Kartun added.
