Snopkov: Belarusian economy is gaining momentum

MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) - The Belarusian economy has gained considerable momentum, growing at a faster-than-world-average rate, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at the joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

“In 2024 the economy is showing high growth, above the world average. The outrunning growth of households’ real monetary incomes and investment has been ensured without imbalances and deterioration of the financial situation, both across the country and at enterprises in the real sector of the economy,” Nikolai Snopkov said. “Despite the external risks, we are not straying from the planned path, and next year the economy is planned to grow above the world average by 4.1%, as it was the case over the past two years. This is not an easy task. Unfortunately, many Western countries maintain sanctions pressure on Belarus. We should keep this in mind and take appropriate decisions in our actions.”

The year 2025 will wrap up the ongoing five-year plan and lay the foundation for the new five-year period, the first deputy prime minister said. “The number one task is to ensure the fulfillment of the program indicators. It should be noted that almost all social obligations taken by the state in the ongoing five-year program will be fulfilled,” he added.
