Serbia interested in buying Belarusian milk

MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – Serbia is interested in buying Belarusian milk. The possibilities were discussed at a session of the Belarus-Serbia working group on cooperation in agriculture and food in Belgrade, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The negotiations revealed that the Serbian side remains highly interested in continuing mutually beneficial cooperation with Belarus and in increasing mutual trade. In particular, Serbia is interested in buying Belarusian milk for making confectionery products of its own. The sides agreed to have Belarusian dairy producers inspected in January 2020 for the sake of certifying their export to the Serbian market.

During the session experts of the ministries and representatives of the private sector discussed matters of veterinary and phytosanitary science, crop husbandry and seed farming, interaction between agrarian universities as well as other promising avenues of advancement of bilateral relations. The sides agreed to consider possible options and prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation with research institutions of Belarus and Serbia, in particular, in the area of alfalfa and sugar beet selection and seed farming.

Belarus and Serbia work hard to advance trade and economic cooperation. In January-September Belarus-Serbia trade in agricultural products and food increased by more than 30% in comparison with January-September 2018. Belarus' export tripled to $3.597 million. Belarus supplies Serbia with potato, seeds, butter, bulb onion, scallion, leek, and garlic.
