MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - The expansion of supplies of Belarusian dairy and meat products to the Saudi Arabian market was discussed at a business meeting with the head of the Department of Perspective Markets of the Ministry of Environment, Water Resources and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia at the Agriculture and Food Ministry. The Saudi Arabian representative had come to Belarus to participate in the Belagro 2025 exhibition, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
The parties marked a significant growth of bilateral trade in food products and agricultural raw materials. In 2024 it doubled compared to the previous year. Belarus’ main exports included skimmed milk powder, whey, and rapeseed oil. In Q1 2025, positive trends in shipments maintained.
“The Agriculture and Food Ministry is actively working to expand access of Belarusian products to the Saudi Arabian market. The process of obtaining permits for supplies of poultry meat and poultry products is ongoing. The Belarusian beef and poultry production control system has been approved by Saudi specialists,” the ministry commented on the prospects of relations in the agro-industrial sector with Saudi Arabia.
Domestic producers sent questionnaires to the register of Saudi Arabia for the supply of products of specific enterprises. Inspection of Belarusian factories has been completed, following which Belhalal received an accreditation certificate. This means that domestic halal certificates will be recognized in the Persian Gulf countries for the whole range of food products: dairy, meat and fish products, confectionery.
According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the meeting emphasized Belarus’ interest in increasing the supply of dairy products to Saudi Arabia and in entering the market with high-quality halal meat products. Belarusian specialists asked the representative of Saudi Arabia to assist in speeding up the registration of the necessary documents.
