Russia’s Tyumen Oblast looks to deepen cooperation in oil, gas sector with Belarus

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) - Tyumen Oblast, Russia is offering Belarus cooperation within its oil and gas cluster, which includes nearly 200 companies from various regions of Russia, Tyumen Oblast Governor Alexander Moor said following his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
“Our joint cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, oil and gas engineering, and oilfield services, which are in high demand among enterprises operating in Tyumen Oblast under illigal sanctions, is of great importance for Tyumen Oblast, Russia, and Belarus. We are interested in producing modern equipment: not only replacing or repairing the existing equipment, but also developing advanced, globally competitive technologies. That’s why we will propose to our colleagues from Belarus cooperation with the oil and gas cluster, which now includes nearly 200 companies from 26 regions of the Russian Federation. The cluster is registered in Tyumen Oblast,” the governor stated.

According to Alexander Moor, the meeting with the Belarusian president was very engaging and productive. The governor described it as a meeting of friends. “We discussed promising avenues to expand cooperation between Tyumen Oblast and Belarusian enterprises. For many years, high-quality Belarusian machinery has been supplied to Tyumen Oblast, which is in demand among our agricultural producers and municipal services. In fact, 70% of the elevators installed in Tyumen Oblast as part of the apartment renovation program were made in Belarus,” he remarked.

The parties also explored prospects for cultural cooperation, including organizing visits by schoolchildren from Tyumen Oblast to the Brest Fortress and other significant historical sites in Belarus.

The interregional oil and gas cluster was established with the support of the governments of Tyumen Oblast and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. This cluster brings together various stakeholders in the oil and gas industry, including extraction companies, equipment manufacturers, oilfield service providers, and research institutes specializing in this field.

The cluster is managed by the Oil and Gas Cluster Association, a non-profit organization whose main goal is to promote the interests of its members in the market for oilfield equipment and services.
