MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Trade contacts between Belarus and the Russian Federation have become even stronger, trade representative of the Russian Federation in Belarus Yuri Zolotarev told BelTA during the visit of the Ryazan Oblast delegation to Belarus.

“The Russian Federation has been the main economic partner of Belarus in recent years. Taking into account the sanctions against Belarus (and the restrictions imposed earlier), Russia's share in Belarus' trade has increased significantly. The Russian market is very important for Belarus,” Yuri Zolotarev said.

Belarus is also an extremely important partner for the Russian Federation, including as a supplier of agricultural products. Russia is the key market for Belarusian agricultural products. Food security is a priority for the two countries, especially amidst external challenges and the global food crisis. “That is why interaction between our countries is crucial,” Yuri Zolotarev concluded.
