MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The Republic of Buryatia is interested in acquiring municipal vehicles and public transport solutions. The relevant possibilities were discussed at a session of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Russian region, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about the key tasks of the business trip to Belarus, Head of Buryatia Aleksei Tsydenov mentioned the establishment of cooperation in existing areas and the exploration of new areas.
Aleksei Tsydenov said: “We have plenty of Belarusian vehicles and machines in Buryatia such as MTZ tractors, Bobruisk-made balers, and BelAZ haul trucks. This is why we will maintain existing cooperation and advance cooperation in other spheres. For instance, Buryatia is the main manufacturer of helicopters in Russia and we can export them. We also make electronics and there are great prospects with regard to seed production in agriculture, artificial selection, and other avenues. We would like to share the best practices and our accomplishments with Belarusian colleagues. We expect joint work to reinforce ties and enable communication with the private sector. I am convinced we will find contact points and promising avenues of cooperation, which will allow securing joint benefits for our countries.”
Ulan-Ude Mayor Igor Shutenkov stated that the city is interested in acquiring various municipal vehicles, equipment for parks, public gardens, and streets, in buying illumination, lights, and in examining urban economy organization. “Apart from that, we are considering buying public transport – buses and trams. We are interested in everything starting with the smallest tractors and ending with the largest machines. Besides, we are ready to open assembly shops in our territory,” he noted.
In 2021 Belarus' trade with Russia's Republic of Buryatia totaled $8.7 million. Belarus exported 77 commodities, including mechanical engineering products and food.
