Russia's Penza Oblast eager to buy Belarusian tractors, harvesters, trucks, lifts

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Penza Oblast intends to buy a broad range of vehicles and equipment in Belarus. Governor of Russia's Penza Oblast Oleg Melnichenko made the statement after meeting with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

Oleg Melnichenko said: “During today's meeting with the president we've addressed the matter of tractor and harvester shipments to Penza Oblast. Apart from that, we are interested in road construction and maintenance machines. We are ready to buy about 200 MAZ vehicles this year.”

In his words, a housing overhaul program is being implemented in Penza Oblast, which means it is necessary to replace lift equipment. Plans have been made to buy about 500 lifts within the next two years. “And everyone knows that Belarusian lifts are the world's best,” the governor said.

Apart from that, Russia is now busy substituting a broad choice of various imports. Oleg Melnichenko stressed that Belarus can provide substantial support with that.

“You didn't stand idle. You develop very well,” the governor said. “We've shaken up ourselves and now understand what we need to substitute and at whose expense. The role of the Republic of Belarus is huge in this regard.”
