Russia’s Kaluga Oblast to borrow Belarusian countryside development practices

MOGILEV, 10 July (BelTA) – Russia’s Kaluga Oblast will introduce countryside development practices of Belarus. The statement was made by Kaluga Oblast Governor Anatoly Artamonov on 10 July as he met with Mogilev Oblast Governor Piotr Rudnik, BelTA has learned.

“The experience of applying a complex approach to Belarusian countryside development, which combines the development of agricultural manufacturing and the social sphere, is interesting for us. We use it partially already but would like to take it up a notch and accelerate the pace. For now we are seriously behind in matters concerning the creation of normal living standards in the countryside and would like to learn how you do it, creating and building up agro-towns,” said Anatoly Artamonov.

The guests from Russia were also interested in Belarusian agricultural machines. According to the Kaluga Oblast Governor, Belarusian machines are quite competitive in comparison with imports and more and more Russian agricultural companies prefer using them. “A lot of Belarusian foodstuffs are also represented in our region. They enjoy a solid demand and we can only welcome their advance into our market. It creates healthy competition and our enterprises acquire invaluable experience,” he said.

Anatoly Artamonov also invited Mogilev Oblast construction workers to take part in building homes in Kaluga Oblast. “We are ready to welcome an unlimited number of construction companies because we cannot secure the necessary housing construction pace. We will provide lands, facilities, and rather profitable operation terms to them. Construction workers will be able to earn rather handsome sums and invest profits into the development of their own enterprises,” said the Kaluga Oblast Governor.

In turn, Mogilev Oblast Governor Piotr Rudnik said they were ready to share the accumulated experience of setting up agricultural production facilities in the countryside – from building various types of farms to creating the entire range of social infrastructure. “We are also ready to render services regarding the construction of pre-fabricated panel and wooden homes in the countryside, the construction of dairy farms, and can help provide agricultural producers with the entire set of the necessary forage harvesters,” he suggested.

Mogilev Oblast is also interesting in Kaluga Oblast’s experience of attracting investments. “We are ready to put it to use in Mogilev Oblast, interact for the development of trade and economic relations, and also advance cooperation in humanitarian and cultural spheres,” said Piotr Rudnik.

The Russian delegation is expected to take part in the opening of the Lithuanian company VMG Industry and IOOO Mebelain in the free economic zone Mogilev on 10 July. The delegation is also expected to visit the agro-town Voskhod.
