Russian PM urges to build more agro-hubs, logistics centers along Eurasian Agroexpress route

SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 4 June (BelTA) – It is important to continue the construction of agricultural hubs and trade and logistics centers along the route of the Eurasian Agroexpress project, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during the plenary session "Food Security of the Eurasian Economic Union", BelTA has learned. 

"To ensure food security, the EAEU needs effective logistics and modern transport corridors. This is important for reducing the costs of cargo operators, fast delivery of products, primarily through the seamless digitalization of the entire process of cross-border movement of goods. The joint project Eurasian Agroexpress also addresses this task. It has accelerated the transportation of agricultural products and helps to increase EAEU exports to other countries, including Uzbekistan, China, India," Mikhail Mishustin said.
According to him, last year Russian regions signed 14 agreements to join the Eurasian Agroexpress. "We need to continue building agricultural hubs and trade and logistics centers along the route to deliver fresh high-quality vegetables, fruits and food to more people," the Russian prime minister noted.

As it has been reported, the initiative to launch the joint project Eurasian Agroexpress to promote regular mutual supplies of agricultural products and food and facilitate food deliveries to Asian countries was adopted by an order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council dated 25 February 2022. The total volume of transportation by Eurasian Agroexpress exceeded 450,000 tonnes in 2023. Major commodities were vegetable oil, fruits and vegetables and canned food, leguminous products, chicken and beef.
