Russian Energy Ministry instructed to hold negotiations with Belarus on gas supplies in 2022

MOSCOW, 4 November (BelTA) - The Russian government has instructed the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold negotiations with Belarus on gas supplies and prices in 2022. The corresponding executive order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and was published on the Russian official internet portal of legal information on 3 November, BelTA has learned.

“The Ministry of Energy of Russia and the Foreign Ministry shall hold negotiations with Belarus and, upon reaching an agreement, shall sign the protocol on behalf of the government of the Russian Federation. They are authorized to make non-material amendments to the attached draft," the document says.

The executive order notes that the draft protocol on the price (tariff) setting procedure worked out by the Ministry of Energy was approved by the Russian government. The document indicates that the protocol can be extended for a year - until 31 December 2022. Thus, the supply terms next year will correspond to the ones in place this year.
