MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – In 2024 Belarus attracted $1.7 billion in investments. Russia, UAE and Cyprus accounted for 24.9%, 14.3% and 13.1% of the total investments, respectively. Anzhelina Syromyatnikova, member of the Standing Commission on Housing Policy, Trade and Construction of the House of Representatives, spoke about the current investment climate in Belarus at a press conference in BelTA’s press center.
“MPs work to facilitate the development of the construction industry by regulating the existing legislation or adopting new legislation in the context of changing realities in politics, economy, scientific and technological progress and digital technologies,” the MP said.
According to Anzhelina Syromyatnikova, the task of lawmakers in this context is to pass laws in a timely manner to promote economic growth. Thus, in 2024 and 2025, the House of Representatives ratified 14 agreements on mutual trade and harmonization of customs legislation with other countries. The measures taken, according to the MP, are aimed at counterbalancing the unprecedented sanctions from Western countries.
As it was reported, Belarus made up for the losses in the markets of Europe and Ukraine by increased trade with Asia, Africa, Latin America and China. Last year’s investments in the Belarusian economy are also indicative.
“Let's take the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone as an example. Previously, foreign countries only rented land for business there. But today they are purchasing production facilities and land. In my opinion, this demonstrates investors' confidence in the future of Belarus and its investment attractiveness,” Anzhelina Syromyatnikova added.
The press conference was held within the framework of the 22nd edition of the national professional contest Leaders in Construction Industry of Belarus. It aims to promote high-quality products, modern technologies, systems, solutions and equipment of domestic construction companies, to showcase the best construction projects and encourage the exchange of best practices. Applications were opened on 1 February and will close on 23 May. For more information, please visit the website stroykonkurs.by.
