Roads of second Belarusian potash mine ready

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – IOOO Slavkaliy has finished building the automobile transport infrastructure that the Nezhinsky mining and processing factory needs, the company's press service told BelTA.

The project provides for building a total of 16 roads, including an access road 4km long to connect the construction site and the P57 motorway, and 15 roads inside the construction site. In the course of building roads across water canals the company used modern corrugated pipes instead of bridges while spots with soft ground have been reinforced by geomaterials. Only the access road will be used all the time while the other roads are intended for the period of the mine's construction.

Construction work to build the Nezhinsky mining and processing factory is at its peak in summer. Specialists of the German shaft sinking company Deilmann - Haniel GmbH are busy testing SBR machines, which are unique for Europe, in Belarusian subsoil assets, gradually increasing the penetration rate. The construction of surface facilities continues as well as the construction of water intake facilities, power engineering installations, and a residential block for personnel of the country's second potash company.

The Nezhinsky mining and processing factory based on the Starobinskoye potash salts deposit will be the second company in Belarus to mine potash salts and make potash fertilizers. It will be able to make up to 2 million tonnes of potassium chloride per annum. The investment project provides for building one mining facility in addition to a processing plant, a gas turbine power plant for proprietary needs, railway infrastructure, automobile roads, housing infrastructure, and other kinds. IOOO Slavkaliy is in charge of implementing the project. The company is part of Mikhail Gutseriyev's Safmar Group.
