MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – A quarry road scraper from the Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ has finished the break-in stage and is getting ready for commercial operation, the company’s press service told BelTA.
During the entire period BelAZ service specialists and personnel of an open-pit coal mine worked in two shifts to test the performance of the heavy vehicle in order to tune the systems for consequent commercial operation. During the break-in period the road scraper has travelled for nearly 2,000km already, clearing and improving access roads of the open-pit coal mine.
The quarry road scraper represents a new type of quarry vehicles for BelAZ. It expands the lineup of special-purpose vehicles designed to cater to “transport arteries” of mining operations. BelAZ 79770 is fitted with an energy-efficient 600hp diesel engine, a large high-strength steel blade over 7 meters wide with the maximum depression of 625mm as well as a ripper with the operating depth of up to 455mm. Only two other companies in the whole world make such vehicles. BelAZ has become the third one.
The company’s press service reminded that the road scraper was first presented at the international specialized expo Russia’s Coal and Mining 2025, which took place in the Russian city of Novokuznetsk on 3-6 June. After participating in the expo the vehicle was transported to Kuzbassrazrezugol Company, one of BelAZ’s long-term and reliable partners, for testing.
