MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Results of the latest scheduled preventive repair of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant have been summarized, representatives of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant told BelTA.
The nuclear power plant’s First Deputy Director General, Chief Engineer Anatoly Bondar remarked that the first scheduled preventive repair of the second unit had been completed successfully. All the operations had been fulfilled in full. The necessary equipment had been delivered to the site on time. “The result is truly decent,” he stressed.
About 700 repair personnel from divisions of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and 656 employees of various contractors took part in the repair process. The work proceeded round the clock. As many as 1,532 operations were completed during the repair. Maintenance and repairs of about 12,500 units of equipment were completed in full. About 25% of the spent nuclear fuel was replaced with fresh fuel. In-service inspection of equipment and piping of the nuclear power plant was carried out, including inspection of 100% of the metal of the reactor unit’s equipment. The number of inspected objects exceeded 20,000 units, including radiographic inspection of the metal of 748 welding seams on pipelines.
“The technical state of the equipment after the repair complies with standing technical requirements. The quality of the equipment repair works is good,” the source noted.
In recognition of quality work, high professionalism and the observation of safety standards in the course of the first scheduled preventive repair of the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant the nuclear power plant’s first deputy director general, chief engineer sent commendation letters to the worker collectives of a number of contractors: OAO Belenergoremnaladka, AO Rosatom Service, OAO Belenergozashchita, AO Atomenergoremont.
