MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – President of Russia Vladimir Putin has instructed the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help promote sales of Belarusian fertilizers on foreign markets. The instruction was given at a meeting with members of Russia's Security Council, TASS reports.
Vladimir Putin said: “We will certainly consider proposals of our European partners with regard to shipments of fertilizers to them but it is necessary to tackle issues concerning sales of fertilizers to other countries, too. I'd like the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help sell Belarusian fertilizers, too.”
He also pointed out discriminatory actions of the European Union with regard to countries of Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Brussels has lifted sanctions from Russian fertilizers. However, it turns out that only European countries can import fertilizers now.
Vladimir Putin went on saying: “It is still impossible, forbidden to ship our fertilizers as well as Belarusian ones via ports of European countries to, for instance, developing countries – to markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. But it discriminates our partners.”
Vladimir Putin remarked Russia may consider the possibility of donating the potash fertilizers, which are located in European sea ports, to developing countries. In particular, countries with acute shortage of fertilizers were mentioned.
