Protocol to Belarusian-Russian natural gas prices agreement ratified by parliament's lower chamber

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus has passed the bill on ratifying the protocol on amending the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on setting prices (tariffs) on natural gas deliveries to Belarus and natural gas transportation via Belarusian gas pipelines of 25 November 2011, BelTA has learned.

The bill was brought into the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament by the Council of Ministers on 14 July 2021.

The protocol on amending the Belarusian-Russian natural gas prices agreement was signed in Moscow on 16 April 2021.

The protocol stipulates principles for setting prices for the Russian natural gas Belarus imports in 2021. The protocol specifies a different procedure for setting prices for the natural gas Belarus imports in circumvention of parts 1 through 6 of article 3 of the Belarusian-Russian natural gas prices agreement. The protocol extends the duration of this procedure till 31 December 2021.

In line with the document the natural gas price Belarus pays in 2021 is determined by adjusting last year's gas price ($127 per 1,000m3) by the size of the inflation determined in accordance with article 1 of the agreement and stands at $128.52 per 1,000m3.
