Prospects of Belarusian business in India discussed at investment forum in New Delhi

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Prospects of expanding the presence of Belarusian companies in India and Indian investors in Belarus were discussed at an investment forum in New Deli, representatives of the Belarusian embassy in India told BelTA.

Participants of the forum discussed prospects of increasing Belarus-India trade volume, expanding the presence of Belarusian business in India and the presence of Indian investors in Belarus, including in zones with investment incentives. The sides mentioned the availability of a substantial potential for implementing joint projects in the sphere of manufacturing cooperation, further increase in mutual trade, including via implementing investment projects in Belarus with assistance of the Indian private sector.

It was the first forum of the kind. It took place on 4-5 March alongside the tenth session of the Belarus-India intergovernmental commission on cooperation in trade, economy, industry, science, technology, and culture.

During the forum the Belarusian delegation was led by the co-chairman of the Belarusian part of the intergovernmental commission, Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to India Andrei Rzheussky, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Industry Ministry and a number of subordinate enterprises, representatives of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim, the representative office of Belarusian Potash Company in India, and the Republican Union of Tourism Industry also took part in the forum.

A presentation of the opportunities available in the free economic zone Bremino-Orsha took place as well as a presentation of Belarus' investment potential in the sphere of tourism. Pavel Utyupin met with top officials of the ministries of railways, trade and industry, housing construction and urban development. A number of memorandums of cooperation and commercial contracts were signed as a result of the meetings.
