NESVIZH, 4 June (BelTA) – We need systemic control over the safety of goods in the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he spoke at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, BelTA has learned.
"The threats posed by so-called unsafe products must be eliminated immediately. Technical regulation is vested with the supranational competence of the EAEU and is under the direct jurisdiction of the EEC," Roman Golovchenko said.
He suggested starting with the accreditation of certification bodies, testing laboratories that grant the right to release goods into free circulation.
"We need systemic
supervision and control over the safety of goods in the common market, over the
validity of the issuance of certification documents. Unfortunately,
unscrupulous importers and sellers take advantage of restrictions and
moratoriums on inspections in some of our countries, which leaves consumers unprotected
against low-quality and unsafe products," the prime minister outlined the
problem.
