PM: Plans to launch production of MMZ engines in Kazakhstan's Kostanay

SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 3 June (BelTA) – We are planning to start the production of MMZ engines in Kazakhstan's Kostanay, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a working meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan, BelTA has learned.

Industrial cooperation is one of the promising areas of interaction between Belarus and Kazakhstan. “Belarus-Kazakhstan joint ventures specializing primarily in agricultural mechanical engineering make modern products with high added value, ensure a high level of localization, promote employment and growth of tax revenues to the budgets of the two countries. The capacity of joint ventures with Belarusian share in Kazakhstan makes it possible to produce up to 10,000 tractors and 1,000 harvesters per year. The necessary warranty and service support is provided. There are clear plans to develop these production facilities,” Roman Golovchenko said.

For example, a new workshop for the production of cabins for BELARUS tractors was opened at Machine-Building Plant MTZ-Kazakhstan in the city of Kostanay in May. “In the near future we will launch a project to manufacture engines of Minsk Motor Plant there,” the prime minister noted.

“In our opinion, no one is doing more than Belarus in terms of localization of production in Kazakhstan at the moment. We are ready to move further in this direction. But it is very important for us to continue to feel the support in this regard from the government of Kazakhstan. I am sure that the development of the domestic machine-building capacities is one of the priorities of the state policy in Kazakhstan, and this has been repeatedly stated at various levels,” the Belarusian head of government said.
