PINSK, 1 March (BelTA) - On the instruction of the president, the government is exploring ways to increase domestic pork production, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting in Pinsk, BelTA has learned.
"At a visiting meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers in Pinsk in late 2022, we reviewed the status of the program for the accelerated social and economic development of 11 regions 80+. Separately, we focused on the Pinsk development program. Back then we made a decision to implement a major project to create an industrial park, its concept was supported, and relevant instructions were issued," Roman Golovchenko emphasized.
The prime minister recalled that the local authorities assured that the industrial park project, which is important for the region, will be implemented promptly. "More than a year has passed. It's time to revisit these issues and see what has been done and who delivered on their promises," Roman Golovchenko said.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the investment project to build a pig breeding complex in Pinsk District. “The issue is important. We need to produce sufficient amount of pork to meet the demand of processing enterprises. The government is working on the president’s instructions to build big pig farms. The Agriculture and Food Ministry is busy with developing the corresponding concept to address the issue,” the prime minister said.
During his working trip to Pinsk, Roman Golovchenko got familiar with the activities and plans of 1AK-GROUP. In particular, the prime minister examined the production of plates for batteries at the Zubr Energy battery factory. At Amkodor-Pinsk, he inquired about the enterprise’s prospects and the status of the import-substituting projects.
