PM: Belarus is ready to implement joint projects with Libya in industry, agriculture

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to implement mutually beneficial projects with Libya in manufacturing, agriculture and other sectors of the economy, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, BelTA has learned.

“I welcome you to Belarus. We are grateful that, despite the difficult situation in your region, you have found time to visit our country. Belarus and Libya have been friends and partners for many years. Today, a very important, one might say, historical meeting has taken place between you and the president of our country. The government of Belarus is determined to fulfill all the agreements that were reached during your meeting with the head of state. We deem it necessary to establish and expand interaction in various areas of the economy, to implement mutually beneficial projects in the economic sector,” said Roman Golovchenko.

This is Khalifa Belqasim Haftar's first visit to Belarus. “Despite this, I am sure that you are well informed about our potential in industry, agriculture, education and other fields. I have read extensively about Libya and I am deeply impressed by the efforts you are making to bring prosperity to your country. Belarus is a reliable partner that can assist you in implementing your ambitious plans. We are ready to discuss with you and members of your delegation joint projects in such areas as food security, industry, construction, geological exploration, education and so on,” the prime minister remarked.
