Planting of annual grasses completed in Belarus

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural workers have finished planting annual grasses, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 10 June, first grass was cut on the area of 1 million hectares. All in all, 88.9% of grasses were harvested from the area of 888,900 hectares. Belarus harvested 69,800 tonnes of hay (9.97%), 4.8 million tonnes of haylage (36.3%) and 193,200 tonnes of silage (0.94%). There are plans to harvest over 9.8 million tonnes of grass fodder this year; at the moment plan has been fulfilled by 14.6%.

Annual grasses were planted on the area of 245,000 hectares (100.3% of the plan).
